O. Smith, MD, former Vice President of PharmSupport, on May 7, 2016.
Fred was an extraordinary colleague and contributor to PharmSupport.
With a quick wit, beautiful smile, and spectacular laugh, Fred provided
the levity and perspective that created a fun yet productive work
environment. His unique and quintessential combination of compassion,
kindness, generosity, intellect, and humor were tremendous gifts to
everyone around him and are deeply missed by all who knew him.
Fred is remembered for his compassionate, respectful, and exceptionally competent care of his patients. Fred generously gave of his time and expertise to all of his patients and treated everyone with the highest standards regardless of a person's ability to pay. Fred was equally generous with his time and expertise in the corporate world and was never too busy to listen to others and to guide them, care, teach, and make everyone laugh. His intellect and ability to recall information and use it productively were legendary. Fred was also uniquely attuned and sensitive to others. He could be the life of the party, if needed, or he could shine the spotlight elsewhere as the situation dictated.
Fred exemplified a joy, positive attitude, and zest for life that remained with him throughout his life, even as illness made his life more difficult. He brightened the lives of all people fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
In honor of Fred, may we all live our lives with the honesty, love, integrity, compassion, generosity, and kindness that Fred embodied and cherished.
